[re]DINE, in collaboration with ReCity Network, presents an innovative solution to this challenge. Through careful selection and strategic partnerships, we’re creating a sustainable system that transforms surplus food into accessible, chef-crafted meals for Durham residents.
The Problem We’re Solving: Food banks, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, TEFAP operations, and church pantries face significant challenges with food waste, particularly regarding high-quality protein, vegetables, grains, and value-added ingredients. [re]DINE bridges this gap by connecting these resources with experienced culinary experts. This food is then served during a beautifully orchestrated experience, where every standard and donor tier meal purchased allows a neighbor receiving any government assistance to eat for free.
The excess food from the event is then composted or fed to animals on a local farm, where the cycle repeats itself!
Pricing Structure
Community Tier: No cost (for qualifying individuals)
Anyone receiving government assistance such as SNAP, WIC, or Medicaid, or experiencing housing insecurity, qualifies for a free community meal. That said, we are willing to work with anyone who needs a meal.
Standard Tier: $15
Finding affordable, tasty food is challenging. We support local businesses, understand their struggles, and believe that quality food should unite people, not divide them by cost or location. Hardworking everyday folks can just visit our designated pop up dates, enjoy a great meal without breaking the bank. Pantry workers, teachers, first responders, and city maintenance receive even more discounts as a token of appreciation.
Donor Tier: $ 20+
If you’re one of our hardworking residents who’s got a bit more financial cushion, we’d love for you to consider donating a little extra. This way, you can help out our neighbors who might be facing food insecurity and make a positive impact in our community. Eat good and do good!
Annual Pass: $200
Your annual membership provides year-round access to [re]DINE’s innovative dining experiences throughout 2025. Each pass includes admission for you and a guest, ensuring you are part of our ongoing mission to reduce food waste and create accessible meals for our Durham community. When you purchase an annual pass, you receive a recipe named in your honor! When you can’t attend, your spot automatically converts to a ‘pay it forward’ meal, supporting our community members in need. This way, your commitment to fighting food waste continues even when you’re unable to join us.
Join us at the [re]DINE Community Meal, a unique dining experience that blends sustainability, community, and delicious cuisine. Happening monthly until November, this event is your opportunity to enjoy thoughtfully prepared meals while supporting a mission to reduce food waste and create a more sustainable future.
